Day 9

Done with Medical City for today!
Took to Med City this morning for Rina's eye exam appointment - we were in and out of that place in 90 minutes for our 9am'er and headed to Greenhills to join the noon Novena at the chapel.  We arrived at Theater Mall early and upon entering the premises, Rina's jaw immediately dropped seeing the myriad of bags and shoes - I should've have asked to get dropped off at Annapolis Carpark Square instead.

Rina being new in this tiangge environment immediately got everyone's attention - those salesfolks can really smell newbies!  I have to warn Rina not to point at stuff she's interested in and to just walk and look casually at the plethora of items on display.  We stopped at an RTW stall and schooled Rina on how to haggle - she promised she'll be doing that next time.

We attended the Novena at noon then went to Virra Mall (now known as V-Mall) to show Rina around, she saw the electronics area and went gaga (I had my electronic fix last Sunday so I know how to distract myself and not drool as much).

We were supposed to meet up for lunch with Riel at GSC but that didn't panned out, so we took a cab home via EDSA - a new route from doing C5 all the time.  Its funny seeing Rina having that lost look - "tsk, tsk, tsk, tourist!"

Anthony & Eia - Travel Agents Extraordinaire
Anthony and Eia came by to pick up an item from DFS.  We started talking and when they found out that we will be flying back on the second week of June, they invited us to join them with Riel and Roselle (Riel has actually been telling us about this) to Boracay.  Seeing Rina's eyes lit up upon hearing that, Eia and Anthony immediately donned their travel agent hats and went on the net to check for flight availability, etc., - poor them, they just stopped by to pick up an item.  They tried different schedules/ airline combinations jto come up with a reasonable fare.  We decided to let it go for now as it was also getting late and use a strategy of checking the fare in the wee hours of Tuesday where Anthony was able to score a  heavily discounted ticket before.  Apparently that particular airline usually do their one-hour  system maintenance midnight Tuesday.  I guess doing that purges the cache - I don't know, I'm just speculating here.

Anthony IM'ed me once he got the lowest price possible (this is now around 12:30am Thursday) and informed me that he was able to get two slots for the return flight with them.  He got everything settled a little after 1am.  Thank you Anthony & Eia!

In the middle of booking and checking and fare calculation, Aix and Rina left for a snack run to Army Navy at BGC to grab burgers.  They brought me a double patty burger and when I opened it, the aroma reminded me of Dayrit's - it even tasted like it, and with my computer playing Spandau Ballet's True - I immediately became nostalgic.

"Shall I or shall I not have the last kwek kwek?" - Rina
